Jiangsu State Farms: High-Tech Poultry Farming Redefined
–From Poultry Rearing to Waste-to-Wealth–Smart, Sustainable Farming
Dongxin Farm currently has 22,000 dairy cows and can slaughter 15 million broiler chickens annually, generating a large amount of fecal sewage. The treatment of fecal sewage has always been a key concern. To completely solve the problem of fecal sewage utilization, Dongxin Farm established a fecal sewage resource utilization center. The center adopts a corporate operation model. In accordance with the principles of reduction, resource utilization, and harmless treatment, and with the direction of fertilizer utilization, it actively combines with the farm’s planting industry, aquaculture, dairy farming, and broiler chicken farming to convert livestock and poultry manure into fertilizers.
Since 2021, the company has cumulatively invested 22 million yuan. It has built 14 fermentation tanks with a volume of 120 cubic meters in four chicken farms, namely Dongsheng, Dongfang, Dongmi, and Dongsheng, achieving the reduction and stabilization treatment of chicken manure. Now, the use of fermentation tanks has improved the virtuous cycle of the breeding system. The chicken manure in the farm buildings is uniformly collected by the automatic manure cleaning system and transported to the outdoor manure stacking shed. The staff uses a forklift to transport it and pour the chicken manure into the fermentation tanks for high-temperature closed deodorization and dust removal fermentation treatment for 6 to 8 days. Subsequently, the semi-finished organic fertilizer produced undergoes a 7-day aging process and is then transported to Huifeng Bio-fertilizer Company for secondary fermentation treatment to be formulated into various special fertilizers. The company has the capacity to treat 80,000 tons of livestock and poultry manure annually and has an annual production capacity of 15,000 tons of powdered fertilizer, achieving a large-scale agricultural and animal husbandry cycle, transforming “fecal sewage” into “fecal fertilizer”, maximizing resource utilization. The treatment of livestock and poultry fecal sewage has embarked on an “ecological express train”, gradually forming the “Dongxin model” for the treatment of livestock and poultry fecal sewage, which features “unified collection, unified transportation, centralized treatment, and resource utilization”.
